We often get told to be strong, take one for the team, stop crying over spilled milk, and on it goes. A whole book on phrases to use on yourself in order to not feel. We have been conditioned to see, hear, and experience things without assigning feelings to them. Don’t be a baby, stop being so sensitive, just ignore it. These are just a few of the things we tell ourselves or hear others say, every day.
These ways of pushing against, masking, and evading our feelings is not good for our soul. Its sometimes meant to make you feel better, but not allowing yourself to feel is NEVER a good thing. I’m not saying fly off the handle or have a tantrum. I’m saying allow yourself the opportunity to acknowledge your feelings. Observe the feelings that come up. FEEL the feelings you have. One way we can improve our lives is to find easier ways to align with ourselves and if you can’t or don’t pay attention to yourself, you can’t find ways to align. Finding your true desires comes from listening to yourself. To find your limiting beliefs you must also listen to yourself. Allowing yourself to feel is also important because feeling is important to growth. Do not risk losing out on happiness just because you’re afraid to feel. You have been told that feeling makes you week. I’m here to tell you that the opposite is true. The more you feel, the stronger you are! And btw, those “gut” feelings you have, definitely listen to those-thats how the strong survive!
